Decorating with Plants

With Spring quickly approaching and warmer temperatures on the horizon, I can’t help but have fresh blooms and greenery on my mind! Whether you are able to go to the market and pick up fresh florals each week, or you use faux greenery and florals here and there as fill ins I can’t help but argue that every space needs an element of nature! Do you use fresh, faux, or a mix of both?

#1 Bring The Outside In – Looking toward the outside world can often inspire some of the best elements of design. Implementing natural materials and textiles in the home can help create a stronger sense of relaxation and connection towards our favorite place. If your ideal weekend escape includes a trip to the mountains, take from this experience and incorporate rich earthy tones in your home along with wood accents and rustic greenery!

#2 Fresh Florals – Fresh florals and greenery will brighten up a corner, bringing in texture, color, and depth to your space year long. Take weekly trips to the farmers market to pick up fresh blooms, or experiment with bringing in fresh blooms and branches from your yard as the weather warms up.

#3 Faux Greenery – Boxwoods are my go-to when it comes to faux greenery. A budget for fresh flowers every week can quickly add up, so boxwoods are the perfect compromise as they provide a true natural look and feel that is guaranteed to last for years with no maintenance and upkeep.
