The lights and decorations are gone and it’s the perfect time to reassess your decor. This is always the time of year that we tend to look at our lives and goals for the new year and it’s no different for your decor. Before you put all of your “every day” decor back take a minute to think about what you liked and didn’t like and how you can improve it.
1. Update Your Lighting – The proper lighting in any room will have a dramatic change since most homes are largely underlit. Assess your lamps and your chandelier and even replacing those ceiling fans with a beautiful light fixture. Remember in lighting “bigger is better!”
2. Add Window Treatments – Custom Window Treatments add the finishing touch to every room. You might think – why go to the expense – but once you have them you will understand how they add color and pattern to your room. Make sure you select the right window treatment for the space and the window and again don’s skimp here — fullness and the right height make all of the difference.
3. Paint – Updating your paint is an instant update for any room. Try to stay neutral in your larger, main spaces but don’t be afraid to add that dramatic pop of color in a dining room, powder room or master bedroom.
